What are ADSL filters and what do I need to do with them?

ADSL filters are small adaptors you need to plug into each of your ADSL-enabled phone sockets. They ensure clean separation of data signals from voice signals. Without them your voice calls would suffer interference when data is being transmitted.

You will need one filter for each wall socket used by a telephone or piece of ancilliary equipment such as a fax machine, Digital TV, set-top box or anything which shares the same line as your ADSL modem.

Two filters are supplied by BT Yahoo! Internet as part of the ADSL equipment pack, and further filters may be bought online from btdslshop.
