What's the difference between 'with modem' and 'without modem'?

We provide two main types of BT Yahoo! Broadband service - with modem, and without modem.

When you purchase a 'with modem' service, we provide a modem pack with your order that contains the modem and microfilters that you will need to get your broadband connection up and running. If you purchase a 'without modem' service, we activate the broadband service on your line and you provide your own modem and filters.

Please note, especially if you are buying the 'without modem' option, that we cannot provide technical support on any equipment from third-party suppliers.
